Drawing the Unspeakable: Towner Gallery, Eastbourne

Immerse yourself in an artistic two-day trip to Eastbourne this spring, when we’ll be joined by artist and writer Liza Dimbleby for an exclusive tour of Drawing the Unspeakable. As well as taking in over 300 artworks, which include many by Jewish artists, we will also watch a screening of animations by one of the world’s leading contemporary creatives, William Kentridge, and enjoy a private lecture about his life and work. This exhibition at the Towner Gallery offers an in-depth look at the range of human experiences through drawing, curated by Liza and her father, the broadcaster David Dimbleby.

Tour highlights include:

  • Exclusive guided tour of Drawing the Unspeakable;

  • Screening of a series of short animated films in which William Kentridge explores South Africa's political history;

  • Private talk on Kentridge’s life and work, including an exploration of his Jewish identity;

  • Overnight stay at The Lansdowne, one of the oldest and finest hotels in Eastbourne with a gorgeous seafront vista (breakfast included);

  • Stop in Lewes on Thursday en route to Eastbourne for sightseeing and shopping;

  • Three-course dinner (vegetarian/pescetarian) at a seaside restaurant;

  • A delicious lunch at the Towner before we leave.

Tour is led by JR’s Executive Director Dr Aviva Dautch and includes return coach transfers. Bookings close on Friday 14 February.

Meeting point: Golders Green Station, 9.45am, Thursday 6 March. Return on Friday 7 March to Golders Green, 4.30pm.
